Presentation
With the power to make decisions at last in their remit, the Regions find themselves confronted with the difficult problem of the organisation of freight transport, the majority of which travels by road to the detriment of the environment. The adoption of a proper strategy to transfer freight from road to rail will need deep pockets and a firm hand. This is a real challenge for our society to which all the stakeholders involved in the regional and political economy will have to reply — an not-to-be-missed opportunity for our future well-being. The Conference will be the occasion to study what has already been achieved in this domain and those projects still in the pipeline.
